Okay, so I realize I haven't posted in awhile. And the last post was about absolutely nothing. I have to admit that I've had a bit of a negative attitude about being "stuck in Orlando" (that's how I often see it even though i know this is a wrong perspective) for so long. I returned from Georgia October 10th. And it's now two months later, and I still haven't been assigned to my next recording trip. There are just not many trips they can send girls on right now. Which is a big bummer. And leaves me feeling a bit uesless. Not that there aren't totally worthwhile projects in Orlando. For awhile I was doing Quality Control for the Master Studio recordings. But I haven't had a project with that in quite awhile. So it's kind of a waiting game right now. And not just for me. Most of us new trainee girls have only been on one trip so far. I guess there have been about 20 recordings less this year than last year and about 40 less than the number they were shooting for. So if all had been as planned, there would be more than enough trips to keep us all busy.
But I am trying to take advantage of living in Orlando. One thing that's cool is that you can go fishing in December...and it's not even ice fishing. It's just regular fishing. Josh and I went the other day. Although we only caught one lil midget of a fish. Well Josh caught it. I caught a plant that was 4 times as big as the fish he caught. But we threw them both back.
The Dance Club of Orlando is another attraction we discovered this weekend. We learned the Fox Trot and the Merengue. It is mostly older people who dance there. I got to dance with a number of men who were probably over 70. But they still have moves!
On Friday, the city of Orlando hosted this big outreach to the homeless. The homeless were all invited for a day of free food, free showers, and hygeine kits, free clothes, free haircuts, free housing and employment consultations, and other services that would be beneficial for the homeless population that they couldn't normally afford. They even had a free mobile spay/neuter clinic for people's pets. I thought this was especially cool as I've thought about how cool it would be to do something like that overseas. Just go around spaying and neutering pets for free.....even if people brought you strays you could take care of them. The pet overpopulation problem really saddens me.
So me and a few other ladies from J-film volunteered all day, just helping distribute the hygeine kits and clothing. It's pretty neat and supposedly the city is goign to try to put it on once a month! There were many churches volunteering so it's cool that even though the city is putting it on, the message of Christ is being spread through it!
Other than that, I've been working 9-5 and then just hanging out. Hopefully, come January I'll be able to go on my next recording trip!
