And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said "Here am I! Send me." -Isaiah

I'm outta here

Hey kids!
I'm leaving for Central Asia for a month! I'm so stoked.....cuz it's been awhile since I've been on a recording trip. We found an old travel team scrapbook yesterday and the most amazing quote was in there from a guy on the team a few years back. Next to his picture it said "I can only check my email so many times..please send me on a trip." Okay, you really can't appreciate this quote unless you're on the travel team.

I have to be honest and tell you that there are time between trips when we have nothing to do that day other than check our email. Not just me....most of my teammates have felt this way at one time or another! We go into the office, check our email and then are like....well what am I going to do now? Sometimes we have real work to do but not always!

But anyways, I'm going to record a language that has close to 20 million speakers! Pretty sweet! I'm scheduled to be gone til March 1st but I"m pretty sure I'll be back early! Peace out kids...

So I'm here on the J Film Travel Team. Last week we had our team retreat in Gatlinburg, TN. And it was basically amazing. It was the first time our entire team has been together since I joined. With all the traveling it's hard to find a time when everyone is in the US. But yeah I just really feel like I got to see the body of Christ at work on this retreat. I was struck by the amazing unity and fellowship of our team. It occurred to me a few times that THIS is how God intended the body of Christ to function! I mean obviously we aren't perfect, we have our flaws, we're all sinners. But I just felt so privileged to be a part of this team!

In other news, I'm going on a recording trip soon! January 29 until March 1st I'll be over in central Asia recording a few products of the J Film in a language spoken throughout several countries in central Asia. The country is closed so I can't say exactly where I'm going. Hopefully after I return I'll be able to say where I was. I'm going with Michelle, one of my teammates that I haven't gotten to know very well yet! So I'm excited to see that friendship grow as we travel together. She'll be the only American I'll see for a month so it's important for us to get along and have fun! Hopefully I'll know more about the trip soon!

Fishing in December

Okay, so I realize I haven't posted in awhile. And the last post was about absolutely nothing. I have to admit that I've had a bit of a negative attitude about being "stuck in Orlando" (that's how I often see it even though i know this is a wrong perspective) for so long. I returned from Georgia October 10th. And it's now two months later, and I still haven't been assigned to my next recording trip. There are just not many trips they can send girls on right now. Which is a big bummer. And leaves me feeling a bit uesless. Not that there aren't totally worthwhile projects in Orlando. For awhile I was doing Quality Control for the Master Studio recordings. But I haven't had a project with that in quite awhile. So it's kind of a waiting game right now. And not just for me. Most of us new trainee girls have only been on one trip so far. I guess there have been about 20 recordings less this year than last year and about 40 less than the number they were shooting for. So if all had been as planned, there would be more than enough trips to keep us all busy.

But I am trying to take advantage of living in Orlando. One thing that's cool is that you can go fishing in December...and it's not even ice fishing. It's just regular fishing. Josh and I went the other day. Although we only caught one lil midget of a fish. Well Josh caught it. I caught a plant that was 4 times as big as the fish he caught. But we threw them both back.
The Dance Club of Orlando is another attraction we discovered this weekend. We learned the Fox Trot and the Merengue. It is mostly older people who dance there. I got to dance with a number of men who were probably over 70. But they still have moves!

On Friday, the city of Orlando hosted this big outreach to the homeless. The homeless were all invited for a day of free food, free showers, and hygeine kits, free clothes, free haircuts, free housing and employment consultations, and other services that would be beneficial for the homeless population that they couldn't normally afford. They even had a free mobile spay/neuter clinic for people's pets. I thought this was especially cool as I've thought about how cool it would be to do something like that overseas. Just go around spaying and neutering pets for free.....even if people brought you strays you could take care of them. The pet overpopulation problem really saddens me.

So me and a few other ladies from J-film volunteered all day, just helping distribute the hygeine kits and clothing. It's pretty neat and supposedly the city is goign to try to put it on once a month! There were many churches volunteering so it's cool that even though the city is putting it on, the message of Christ is being spread through it!

Other than that, I've been working 9-5 and then just hanging out. Hopefully, come January I'll be able to go on my next recording trip!

So they have this sweet celebrity look alike thing that one of my co-workers discovered. you put in a picture of yourself and it tells you which celebrity your face is simliar to. Truly the first picture I put in, gave me Herbert Hoover as the closest match! (sometimes they give you both genders) Hope you try it out! it's fun!
